Our author-run bookshop and independent café nestled in Dresden’s Neustadt is a room for tales, for quiet, for each other.
It is a little haven where a library, living room, reading nook, and event space come together.
The idea was born during Hannah’s tumultuous life in London, where she was inspired by the vibrant bookshops and café culture, and dreamt of creating a space where stories and atmosphere intertwine.
The shop is more than a place to buy English books – here, books, art, and everyday beauty come together in harmony. Think stories worth keeping and objects worth gifting.
At Read The Room, storytelling becomes an experience – a collection designed to be felt, not just found. A place to pause, explore, and be inspired. We host book exchanges and gatherings, creating a space where stories are shared, connections are made, and every visit feels like coming home.

We carry new releases, fiction (classics, contemporary), poetry, viral/BookTok titles, non-fiction & second-hand gems (German and English).

We offer a variety of notebooks, Moleskine products, pens, notepads, post cards, greeting cards, charms, bookmarks, magnets, drink ware, pouches, houseware & more.

Do you have a laptop policy?
We are fine with you using your laptop. However, please bring your own powerbank as we have very limited power outlets and won’t be moving around outlets to accomodate as they could get in the way for everyone else. Thanks for understanding!How can I sign up to join the book club?
Keep an eye out on our Instagram or this site to find out what our next read is, then simply join at our next meeting. No RSVP or tickets.
How do you choose the book of the month for book club?
We have a poll by the end of each month over on Instagram where everyone can leave their vote between 4 contenders. Those are chosen from all requests sent to hi@readtheroomcoffee.de.
It’s possible we will put certain books back on the votes depending on demand.
Do you take secondhand books?
We accept second-hand books (in exchange for a cuppa ;-)).
We accept books in English and German across most disciplines. You can bring your books to us during opening hours. If your delivery is larger in quantity, please contact us beforehand so we can arrange.
By and large, we accept what we know we can sell; no travel guides or outdated encyclopedias, please. If a book is in good condition and seems like it would fit in with our current stock, we would likely be interested in it.
We always accept donations in our Donation shelf, where people can take and insert books anytime.

Read The Room is available for private or event hire, a fee is depending on the type of event and the number of participants. We can cater for a wide variety of occasions, seating up to 25 people comfortably for our menu of drinks and bakes.
We can cater for private events (e.g. birthdays), book clubs, and author events (signings, readings).
